Evolution: Battle for Utopia – Walkthrough Guide
Evolution: Battle for Utopia, released back in January of 2014, is one of the most interesting
modern mobile games, combining the best features of a shooter, RPG and puzzle game. Here you will
become the commander of a spaceship suffered a wreck on planet Utopia who is to solve the planet’s
mystery. When exploring the planet, you will face stronger and stronger enemies — starting from mere
spiders to creepy mutants having lost all humanity. You will have to build up a base and protect it
from the invasions, find new allies and construct powerful weapons and armors for your character. You
can also fight against other players for your ranking position.
To say it straight, Evolution is quite a hardcore game — it’s not an easy road to reach the final
boss and kill him. Nevertheless, it is possible – even without any donate at all! To make it easy,
we have made this guide for you.
Resources
Complete additional missions to replenish your resources (see the icon on the right of the
screen). The missions are renewed every half an hour.
-
There are three main resources in the game: Biofuel, Iron and Magmatite. Biofuel will be produced
by your Base Generator. Then, while playing, you will open two Iron mines (in the Iron Mine and
Relic sectors) and two Magmatite mines (one at your Base and the other in the Hub sector).
Upgrade them to the maximum – the faster the better.
-
The rarest and the most valuable resource in the first part of the game is Crystallite. To get
enough of it, upgrade your Anomaly Decay technology as soon as possible to the maximum level, while
also enabling you from time to time to receive “real money” Gems for free.
-
It’s worth doing the additional missions of the levels that don’t require any extra resources to
survive. Otherwise, your reward won’t compensate for the spent ammo. As a rule, it is easy to complete
the first and second level missions and the “hack” ones as well. The third level tasks are quite a
challenge, and the fourth level missions are almost impossible to complete without extra expenses.
-
Data Disks and Medals are the hardest resources to receive. Some of them you will get when playing
through the storyline, but this won’t be enough. That’s why it makes sense to choose Disks as the
reward for the first level missions, and for the second and third level ones – to take either
resources or Medals.
-
Try to keep your Nuclear Missile at the ready. Remember: the fastest way to receive a pack of rare
resources, having spent a little of the renewable resources and two Medals, is to launch a rocket
into the target of a fourth level mission. Best of all it works when your mission target is a Turret
– it will give you the largest amount of the resources. That’s how you can catch “real-money” Gems.
-
Biofuel is never too much. If you have researched everything for your level, always take Biofuel
when selecting a mission reward.
-
Always buy Data Disks and Machine Gun Cartridges from the Itinerant Merchant.
Upgrades and Weapons
The technology of the best armor in the first part of the game (1800 units of Health) can be
found in the box guarded by the boss of the Mechanarium sector.
-
Your character gets Experience only when exploring new locations. The Experience has no effect
on your characteristics – it doesn’t increase your strength and health, but your enemies
become stronger. So don’t rush the storyline - make a stop every 2-3 levels. Research the
available technologies, upgrade your weapons and train your partners.
-
Explore all additional locations. As a rule, if you are lack
of damage to do the “free passage” quest, you are not strong enough to play comfortably at the
location. Better save your resources and develop your character instead.
-
All the weapons in the game require special ammo. The only exception is the Pistols. That’s why
it makes sense to upgrade the Pistol to the maximum level and use only this kind of weapon for
additional missions. The best pistol you can get in the first part of the game you will find
in the Citadel sector.
-
The most powerful weapons in the first part of the game are as follows: the Juggernaut MG
(the Swamps sector), the Dragon Shotgun (the Mechanarium sector), the Storm AR (the Relic sector).
-
here are a lot of armored enemies that aren’t affected by ordinary weapons. That’s why you
should always have a pack of Grenades with you – including the Acid ones. It is also
possible to upgrade the Shotgun with the Grenade Launcher.
-
There are several “hidden” ways to receive new interesting technologies in the game. For
example, having destroyed an Overlord attacking your base, you will get the Acid Pistol
technology that is very efficient against armored targets. Having killed a Dominator, you will
be rewarded with the Stasis Shield technology (a special power field covering your character
on the edge of death), and on the corpse of an Itinerant Merchant you will find the Incendiary
Grenades technology.
Partners
Robot dog Fido is your first companion and the weakest of all the partners. Meanwhile, it has
one important advantage: its energy damage is efficient even against armored targets.
-
The strongest partner is Roxy (excluding the Black Legion update). You can find her in the
Kingpin's Hideout sector, to the left of the boss. Her services will cost you 5000 units of
Biofuel and it’s better to train her to the maximum level.
-
The best partner before Roxy is Frisky. You will find him in the Elysium Cargo Ship sector.
He will ask for 2500 units of Biofuel and help you to pass almost all the first half of the game.
-
Jaffar (the Outpost sector) is a poor fighter and isn’t worth upgrading as a combat companion –
his value is only in 3% discount at the Itinerant Merchant.
-
The last partner to mention is Rico (the Swamps sector, a shed in the lower right corner). He
is armed with a shotgun; his damage is high and he is efficient against armored enemies.
Nevertheless, Rico is no worth when in your squad – he is a poor long distance shooter. It’s
much more effective to take Roxy with you and use Acid Grenades against shielded opponents.
PvP and Base
The win in a PvP battle initiated by you will give you 30 Rating points and the defeat will
take 7 points away. If another player attacks you and wins, you will lose 5 Rating points,
if you win – you will get 10 points.
-
While playing, you will slowly collect “real money” Gems. The first thing to spend them on
is the construction of two additional Turrets at your Base.
-
Don’t leave the game unattended for too long. Spiders can invade you any moment and, without
the top-level Turrets at your Base, the enemies would destroy quite a part of your buildings.
-
The Radar is the most important building you are to construct as soon as you have opened the
Tactics and Strategy section of the Research Center. When activated, the Radar will guarantee
your Base turret protection in PvP battles.
-
Even if you aren’t interested in playing PvP, try to gain 800 or more Rating points. That’s
not difficult and will double your reward for all additional missions. The sooner you will
do it, the faster you will develop.
